7 May 1998, Kihikihi Speedway
Issue No: 11
Another season is now over and this will be my last newsletter for 97/98. It certainly has been quite an eventful season, with plenty of spills & thrills!!
A disappointing end, points wise, however I improved from 13th in the Features last year to 8th this season. Unfortunately, most of the points meetings were early in the season when I was having difficulties getting the setup of the car right.
Once those problems were sorted out my season improved dramatically. Highlights being, qualifying 8th (out of 42 cars entered) for the Waikato Ltd Saloon Champs and, as you know, winning my first race, the Feature Race of the Ltd Saloon Invitation meeting, at Kihikihi Speedway on 1 March 1998.
My new car is well on the way (with a lot of work still to be done!) and I am looking forward to a much better and more consistent season next year.
Thank you all so very much for your support over the last 2 seasons. Motorsport is an expensive and time consuming pastime and I couldn't participate without your assistance.
The Waikato Stock & Saloon Car Club (WSSCC) annual prizegiving/cabaret is to be held at the Glenview Club on 30 May 1998. Tickets are $30 per person. If anyone is interested in attending, please let me know.
I wish you all well for the winter season and I will see you all in the next week or so.
